Terms of Service

1. Booking & Payment

Full payment is required at the time of booking to secure your appointment. Once payment is received, your appointment is considered confirmed and reserved exclusively for you.

By completing your booking, you agree to The Box Builders’ scheduling, cancellation, and rescheduling policies outlined in these Terms of Service.

Full payment allows us to reserve adequate time, staffing, and resources to complete your project efficiently and professionally.

Packaging & Material Handling
We will break down all boxes and packaging from items we assemble at no additional charge. Removal and haul-away of packaging or materials is not included by default and is available as an optional add-on service. If requested, a flat $30 disposal fee will apply.

2. Cancellations & Rescheduling

Appointments may be rescheduled or canceled up to 24 hours prior to the scheduled start time for a full refund.

Cancellations made within 24 hours of the appointment are eligible for a 50% refund, as time and resources have already been reserved for your project.

Clients may reschedule an appointment up to two (2) times. After the second reschedule, any subsequent cancellation or reschedule will result in forfeiture of the 50% refundable portion.

No-shows are treated as same-day cancellations.

All rescheduling is subject to availability.

3. Special Accommodations

We understand that every home and project is different. If you have specific requests or need special accommodations, please notify us at the time of booking. We’ll do our best to accommodate your needs whenever possible.

4. Service Scope & Expectations

We specialize in residential and office furniture assembly. Our team will:

• Assemble your furniture per manufacturer instructions.

• Test stability and functionality upon completion.

• Leave your space clean and tidy.

We do not offer structural modifications, electrical work, or mounting of heavy items unless otherwise agreed upon.

5. Custom Builds & Built-In Projects

Scope of Custom Work

In addition to furniture assembly, The Box Builders offers custom and built-in carpentry solutions. These may include, but are not limited to:

• Built-in shelving and storage

• Cabinetry and bookcases

• Mudroom systems

• Mantels and architectural features

• IKEA and modular system integrations (“IKEA hacks”)

Custom builds are project-based services, not mass-produced furniture items. We do not fabricate standalone furniture such as dining tables, chairs, or seating.

Consultation & Estimates

All custom projects begin with a consultation to review scope, design intent, materials, and site conditions.
Pricing is quoted separately from standard assembly services and may change if the project scope is adjusted.

Scheduling & Cancellations

• Custom build work is scheduled once a quote is approved.

• Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled start time.

• Any materials ordered or work already completed prior to cancellation may be non-refundable.

Materials & Existing Furniture

Custom projects may incorporate client-provided furniture, modular systems, or materials.
The Box Builders is not responsible for defects in manufacturer-supplied products or materials once installation begins.

Delivery & Installation

Custom work is completed on-site at the client’s location unless otherwise agreed upon.
Any delivery or material handling fees will be discussed and approved in advance.

Risk & Responsibility

Once installation is complete, responsibility for the custom work transfers to the client.
The Box Builders is not responsible for damage caused by misuse, improper maintenance, structural issues beyond the scope of work, or environmental factors.

Photography & Marketing

We may photograph completed custom projects for portfolio, website, or social media use.
If you prefer your project not be photographed or shared, please notify us in writing prior to project completion.

6. Liability

While we take great care with your property, The Box Builders, LLC is not liable for:

• Pre-existing damage to furniture or surfaces.

• Manufacturer defects or missing parts.

• Injury or damage due to improper use of the assembled furniture after service.

The Box Builders, LLC is not liable for any damages that occur as a result of misuse, poor product quality, or improper installation instructions provided by the manufacturer.

We are professionally insured to ensure a worry-free experience.

7. Right to Refuse Service

We reserve the right to decline service if working conditions are unsafe or if required materials (furniture parts, instructions, etc.) are not present.

8. Payment

Furniture Assembly Services

Full payment is required at the time of booking for all furniture assembly services. Appointments are not confirmed until payment is received.

All prices shown reflect labor only and are based on the information provided at booking. Additional work requested on-site that was not included in the original booking may result in additional charges, which will be discussed and approved prior to proceeding.

Custom Builds & Built-In Projects

Custom builds and built-in carpentry projects are quoted separately following consultation. Payment terms for custom projects may include deposits, progress payments, or final payment upon completion, depending on the scope, materials, and timeline of the project.

Specific payment terms will be outlined in the custom project quote and must be agreed to prior to the start of work.

Accepted Payment Methods

We accept major credit/debit cards and other approved electronic payment methods. Accepted payment methods may vary by service type and will be confirmed at the time of booking or quoting.

9. Sales Tax

The Box Builders is required to collect sales tax on applicable physical goods sold to customers within the state of California. Sales tax is calculated based on the delivery address and will be added at checkout. The total amount due, including tax, will be clearly displayed before payment is completed.

Customers outside of California will not be charged sales tax at this time, unless required by applicable law in their jurisdiction.
